White Paper

Acknowledging Indigenous Land in 2022

Acknowledging Indigenous Land in 2022 is a white paper designed to prime communicators today for writing land acknowledgements. Land acknowledgements have become more prevalent since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission published its Final Report in 2015, and even more so since the findings of mass graves at residential schools in 2021.

This is not a guide. This white paper will walk you through the “why” of writing land acknowledgements rather than the “how.” This white paper will give you the tools to think critically about the importance of land acknowledgements in this time of truth and reconciliation.
